Now, this is something that most people don't know about The Inkey List. They truly care about their people, and they actually have a relatively small team. I've spoken to many people on that team, and its a tight knit group of people who work very hard to keep up with how much the brand has grown. And I don't think people actually realize how dedicated the group has become.
When I first met the team, I immediately saw that Mark and Collette knew how to affirm every member's value and worth. Their like minds were obvious. And overtime, I became pretty sure they were dating. I got this impression from a conversation that I had with them. It was one of the best conversations I've ever had. It literally felt like talking to two best friends who'd launched a company together. And fast forward to 2024 - they're getting married! Called it!
But, I didn't want to stop at just talking to the founders. I also wanted to talk to the people who work there to ensure they’re treated and compensated correctly. From advertising to admin, I wanted to make sure everyone is treated equally.
Speaking of advertising, The Inkey List even has campaigns centered around embracing and accepting yourself, and it's amazing to see how the brand founders themselves actually resonate this message. The founders openly speak about how they've failed before. They've failed at starting other companies, but with the intention of helping others, they've even gone as far as sharing their huge mistakes. That takes a lot of guts, self-acceptance, honesty, and compassion.
The founders even personally shared knowledge with me over a call. When I asked them hard questions, they answered me truthfully, and it was very refreshing. I left the conversation with the reminder that success is personal.
And even though The Inkey List’s margins are not as high as other companies, the line remains effective and inexpensive. Overall, The Inkey List makes real skincare solutions accessible to almost everyone. Because they put people over profits, they're truly able to connect with their customers. Likewise, they truly understand how to emphasize the importance of self acceptance to customers, especially through influencer marketing, I love how everything they do, marketing-wise, is story-driven and human-focused, not perfection focused.
I still work closely with them, and this year, I actually did an Inkey List live stream on 11/11, my birthday! It was on TikTok shop, and we shared some sales and q&a's with the founders. This was the first ever INKEY Skincare Party 🎉🎈
The same day Inkey List hosted a friends and family gathering with jewelry making, skincare education, and product education for London based creators.
Mark and Colette were filled with gratitude, and they conveyed, “We had the most incredible day and night with our incredible community! We were joined by some very special guests, and they led 3 exclusive skincare masterclasses covering everything glow, hydration, and makeup prep." ✨
"The party didn’t stop there! We got creative with hyaluronic acid-inspired charm-making, bedazzled claw clips, and we teamed up with the fabulous team at Daisy Lily 💎 We even had a photo booth in our content room." 📸
